GREENSBORO, N.C. — Youths in foster care and a foster parent will perform an original play about foster care at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, in UNCG’s Elliott University Center Auditorium.
Sponsored by the Child Welfare Education Collaborative and the Guilford County Department of Social Services, “Foster Care Chronicles” is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the performance.
The play was written by Vanessa Stubbs, a former Guilford County Department of Social Services supervisor, and is produced and directed by Alicia Kaplan, a Child Welfare Education Collaborative alumna and a therapist with Guilford County DSS.
This community-based research project is funded through a grant from UNCG’s Office of Leadership and Service Learning. It is supported by Child Welfare Education Collaborative faculty Dan Beerman, Sue Dennison and Maura Nsonwu; and students La’Shanda Daniels, Natashia Fisher, Amy Jackson and Denise Tyler.
