  • Dr. Elizabeth Keathley, an associate professor in the School of Music, was interviewed on WUNC's The State of Things during a segment about the International Feminist Theory and Music Symposium. (5-28-09)
  • The Carolina Peacemaker published a story about Cameron Wynn, who recently graduated from UNCG with a major in African American Studies. Wynn talked to the paper about his upcoming trip to Botswana focused on HIV/AIDS research and his plans to attend medical school at UNC Chapel Hill. (5-20-09)
  • WFMY's morning show aired a segment about understanding children's behavior. The segment featured Dr. Julia Mendez, an associate professor in the Department of Psychology. (5-18-09)
  • UNCG broke ground on a new, $47 million building that will be home to the School of Education.  The event featured addresses by Chancellor Linda P. Brady and Education Dean Dale Schunk. It drew coverage from WGHP-TV (Fox 8) and WFMY-TV (News 2). (5-18-09)
  • Betty Epanchin, director of the UNCG Teachers Academy, was interviewed by WFMY News 2 for a segment on lateral entry teachers. (5-18-09)
  • Bethany Marshall, a May 2009 UNCG graduate, was profiled in the Greensboro News & Record. The story chronicled Marshall's journey from losing her memory due to a viral infection in 2000 to earning a communications degree from UNCG. (5-15-09)
  • American Sign Language Idol, a new tradition at UNCG, was featured on Fox 8 News' Buckley Report. ASL Idol, modelled on the popular American Idol competition, features UNCG ASL students interpreting music for both deaf and hearing fans. (5-14-09)
  • Dr. Arthur D. Anastopoulos of the UNCG AD/HD Clinic was quoted in a News & Record story about college students using AD/HD medications as study aids. (5-12-09)
  • In collaboration with the Piedmont Environmental Center in High Point, Ann Somers, a biology lecturer at UNCG, and Drs. Heidi Carlone and Catherine Matthews from the School of Education, held a public event called Celebrating Turtles at the center. UNCG students helped to educate visitors about tracking and marking box turtles. Read more about the project in the News & Record. (5-11-09)
  • John Willse, assistant professor of Educational Research Methodology, was interviewed by Minnesota Public Radio for a story on standardized testing. (5-8-09)
  • UNCG had a scare when a student was tested for H1N1 influenza, commonly known as swine flu, but the test came back negative.The event drew wide coverage, including reports by the News & Record and WGHP-TV. (5-8-09)
  • Philadelphia NPR station WHYY interviewed sociology professor Rebecca Adams for a story about the health benefits of socializing. The story looked at bowling leagues in South Philadelphia, including one for seniors. The way we socialize is changing, Adams pointed out, due to advances in technology and more frequent relocation.   • An article in the Salisbury Post - Scientist Seeks to Unlock Secrets of Herbal Remedies - described the research of Dr. Wei Jia, co-director of the university's Center for Research Excellence in Bioactive Food Components at the N.C. Research Campus in Kannapolis. A faculty member in the Department of Nutrition, Jia studies traditional Chinese medicines. (5-5-09)
  • The Greensboro News & Record published an article on Nelson Bobb's resignation as athletics director, after 26 years in the position. (5-5-09)
  • Triad area television news programs ran coverage of Chancellor Linda P. Brady's installation at UNCG's 10th  chancellor on May 5, including WFMY-News 2. (5-5-09)
