GREENSBORO, N.C. The Department of Public Health Education has added an online bachelor’s degree program in health studies designed for community college graduates.

The program uses state-of-the-art Internet instructional technology to allow students to earn a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies without attending classes on the UNCG campus. All courses needed for community college graduates to complete the degree will be offered online.

“We know that this will be a popular degree for students throughout the U.S. because of the continued demand from employers in health related fields,” says Jim Eddy, PhD, head of the Department of Public Health Education. “The online degree program is designed to provide an accessible and affordable degree option for community college graduates who have challenging time and location constraints.”

Joy Hall, a new student in the online health studies program, is an example of a student who is benefiting from the program. “What caught my attention about the program was that I would have the ability to work full-time and be a full-time student. I needed a program that would not only be convenient, but would allow me to work in the limitations of my lifestyle,” she says.

Some of the courses being offered include Personal Health, Human Sexuality, Public Health, the Health of Women and Health Problems of Lower Income Groups.

The deadline to enroll for the fall semester is Aug. 1. To learn more about the program, please contact Leah Tompkins at letompki@uncg.edu. To apply for admission, contact admissions@uncg.edu.
