GREENSBORO, N.C. Author Peter Schneider, known as one of the most prolific German writers today, will talk and read from his works Friday, Nov. 20, at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

The 2 p.m. talk will be held in the UNCG Faculty Center on College Avenue. The event is open to the public at no charge.

Schneider has authored over 20 books, including “The Wall Jumper,” a book that chronicles the long-term psychological effects of the division between East and West Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall. The author is also known for his participation in the 1960s German student movement, his engagement with political issues and their cultural representation in literature and film and his engagement in transatlantic dialogue between Germany and the United States.

Schneider’s talk is the culmination of programming at UNCG marking the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. A daylong symposium on the wall’s fall will be held on campus Friday, Nov. 6.
