GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG kicks off its Friends Helping Friends suicide prevention program next week with an awareness event and a website.
Representatives from Student Health Services and the Greensboro Mental Health Association will be available in the EUC Commons from 11 am.-2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, World Suicide Prevention Day.
UNCG’s Wellness Center and Counseling and Testing Center have also launched a Friends Helping Friends website. Visit http://www.uncg.edu/shs/fhf/ to find answers to your questions about mental health and suicide on college campuses. The site also lists resources available on campus for students in distress.
UNCG is among 17 campuses receiving federal grants for suicide prevention. Friends Helping Friends is funded by a $253,708, three-year grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
