GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro Day School will host the fourth annual Center for Women’s Health and Wellness JV Field Hockey Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 3.
Supported by the UNCG Department of Kinesiology, the tournament focuses each year on a health topic important to the female high school athletes who participate. This year, tournament organizers and the Greensboro Chapter of the American Heart Association are emphasizing how lifelong physical activity can reduce one’s risk of heart disease.
Eight teams, and more than 150 athletes, from North Carolina and Virginia are competing in the tournament. The event begins with a breakfast at 8 a.m. and a speaker from the American Heart Association at 8:20 a.m. Games begin at 9:15 a.m., with the championship game slated for 4 p.m.
Sponsors for this year’s tournament include Harrow Sports Inc., Murphy-Wainer Orthopedics, Bruegger’s Bagels, the Fresh Market and Biscuitville.
