UNCG Celebrates Women’s History Month with Slate of Events

GREENSBORO, N.C. The contributions of women will be celebrated at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro during Women’s History Month.


All events are open to the public at no charge.


March 2:

• Discussion Forum: Contemporary Issues Forum to discuss “Post-Feminist America?” Discussion led by Dr. Gwen Hunnicutt, UNCG associate professor of sociology, and Dr. Danielle Bouchard, UNCG assistant professor of women’s and gender studies. 4 p.m. Ferguson Room, Elliott University Center (EUC). • Lecture:
“‘Help Me to Find My People’: Searching for Family After Slavery Ended” by Dr. Heather Williams, UNC Chapel Hill. 7 p.m. Virginia Dare Room, Alumni House. Sponsored by University Libraries.
• Lecture: “Impact of Global Downturn on Filipina Factory Workers” by Dr. Stephen Sills, UNCG assistant professor of sociology and 2009 recipient of the Linda Carlisle Research Grant in Women’s and Gender Studies. 3:30 p.m. Kirkland Room, EUC. • Lecture:
“Personal Politics and History” by Dr. Sudie Duncan Sides ’61. The event is the inaugural lecture for the new Peggy and Sudie Duncan Lecture Series in women’s history. 4 p.m. Alumni House. Sponsored by the UNCG history department, Women’s and Gender Studies Program and the UNCG Alumni Association. • Through May 15: “Brave New Worlds: Re-Imaging in Girls’ Series Books.” Located in the Hodges Reading Room of Jackson Library from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
