GREENSBORO, NC – Medical offices ready to implement electronic health records or curious about the technology’s possibilities can learn more at the second annual Conference on Electronic Health Record (EHR) Implementation Thursday, May 12, at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
The daylong conference, “Integrating EHR into Your Practice,” will be held in Elliott University Center. It’s presented by the McDowell Research Center for Global IT Management in the Bryan School of Business and Economics and co-hosted by the Greensboro Area Health Education Center.
Ned Ellington, Ph.D., will give the keynote address, “The EHR Implementation Road Map -- It’s full of twists and turns but we are moving forward!” Ellington is director of the Health IT Research Center in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.
The conference will offer sessions for organizations considering adopting EHR systems, those in the beginning stages of implementation and those experienced with electronic records and looking for advanced strategies and applications for the programs. The conference will conclude with a panel of experts discussing their experiences with electronic health record implementation around the country.
“Electronic Health Record implementations are moving rapidly, yet there is still much uncertainty and anxiety among health practices,” said Dr. Prashant Palvia, director of the McDowell Research Center. “Participants will learn important lessons no matter whether they are at pre-adoption stages or at different stages of implementation.”
