Our Services

While our primary focus is to help produce a variety of communications in partnership with University Relations staff, UNCG photographers are occasionally available to assist with unit photography needs as our schedules and resources allow. After reviewing our services, please fill out either an Event/Commercial Photography Request Form or a Headshot Request Form. We'll make every effort to accommodate your request or help you find another resource.

Important Note: University photographers do not provide personal photography of any kind, including retirements, family portraits, weddings, showers, birthdays, etc. (even if the celebration occurs on campus and/or involves faculty, staff, students or alumni.) In addition, we cannot accommodate group photos unless they promote UNCG events or support the university's communication goals. For example, reunion class and donor recognition event photos are appropriate; however, a group photo requested for personal/departmental use will be declined.

Commercial Photography

Commercial photography is advertising or promotional photography that helps promote your school or unit in web sites and brochures targeted to external audiences (prospective students, alumni, etc.) This kind of photography requires advanced planning, professional lighting and a photo assistant. To book your commercial photography, a free-of-charge planning session is required in order to discuss your needs for the final product. In addition, any necessary special equipment will be charged to the requestor.

  • Photo Rights - Departments sponsoring a commercial assignment will have first rights to images for 3 months from the assignment date. After 3 months, images may be made available to the public/campus via the University Relations Image Library. If a longer hold time is needed, please discuss this with photography staff during the planning session.

University photographers will provide headshots of individuals accented by standard lighting and a tasteful background. Headshots are taken in the UNCG Photo Studio at 1100 West Market Street (suite 201). Photographers will select the best photograph and email it directly to you.

Prints of the headshot can be purchased for your use as well. Please see our price list (PDF).

    Free Wednesday headshot sessions, 9-10:30 a.m. and 2-3:30 p.m.

For your convenience, University Relations photographers have established dedicated timeslots each Wednesday for headshots. To take advantage of the free Wednesday headshot sessions, please fill out the online headshot request form. Please list the Wednesday time slot you prefer and we will email you a confirmation or an alternate date and time. Please keep in mind that from time to time, sessions are canceled due to scheduling conflicts or illness. If a session is canceled, we will contact you about an alternate date.
