Header

web site header

As the UNCG header is the primary form of site identification, it is required on unit home pages.

The header has two horizontal elements. The top band is the Identity Bar, containing three elements: The University Logo; either a photograph or the “Inspire. Change.” tagline; and a gray box (Search, e-Spartan, UNCGenie, and Site Tools). The gold/navy band is the Navigation Bar containing unit-specified links and the Campus Links pull-down menu.

Identity Bar and Navigation Bar

Identity Bar

The Identity Bar is 200 x 55 pixels and has four segments:

Identity Bar

Segment 1 must have the Full Name UNCG logo, which is to be linked to the UNCG home page. The image may be downloaded from: Minerva Logos - PNG Files.

Units may not use their own logos in the Identity Bar.

Segment 4 must have the gray box (Search, e-Spartan, UNCGenie, and Site Tools).

Units have two options for Sections 2 and 3:

  • Use the “Inspire. Change.” tagline in Segment 3, with Segment 2 blank, as shown above.
  • Use a unique photograph that gradates to the left (from Segment 3 into Segment 2), as shown below, with a 15-pixel buffer in Segment 2 to the right of Segment 1.

Navigation Bar

Navigation Bar

Units have flexibility to display unique content (e.g. links, text) in the gold section of the Navigation Bar.

If the unit employs the same affinity groups as the UNCG home page (Prospective Students, Current Students, Faculty & Staff, Alumni, Community & Friends), the links must point to the UNCG affinity group pages. The links cannot point to unit affinities unless so designated within the bar. For example, the Alumni button must go to www.uncg.edu/alumni and not to a unit’s alumni page, unless the button says, “Unit Alumni,” (e.g. “School of Music Alumni”).

The navigation bar must include the Campus Links menu. Campus Links can be specific to a unit's needs, or they may be the same as the links on the UNCG home page. If the unit chooses the latter, there are two options:

Footer

A standard University Footer style is required on unit home pages, containing these elements

  • Separator from page content
  • Unit contact information at the left margin
  • Other site information (accessibility statement, privacy policy, date of last update, developer credit, webmaster link) at the right
