The Fall 2012 issue of Ms. Magazine featured UNCG WGS MA program alum Rebecca Mann's experience during her studies here. The article describes the current state of Women's Studies programs within the academy and explores students' experiences within the field. Rebecca Mann is currently a non-profit consultant in North Carolina and remains involved with UNCG's WGS program as secretary of the Friends of WGS.
The following excerpt is from Ms. Magazine:
"Take Rebecca Mann, who became involved with NOW while doing an undergraduate minor in women's studies, and went on to earn her master's in women's and gender studies at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. Post-graduation she worked for an international women's reproductive-health advocacy group and directed outreach for the LGBT group Equality North Carolina. Currently a consultant to smaller nonprofits, Mann believes that the challenges she faced as a campus activist, along with her women's studies courses, prepared her for community organizing in her postgraduate life." (Ms. Magazine, Fall 2012, 39-45)
We are proud of Rebecca -- and proud to see the word getting out about our wonderful program!
