Other Service Activities
| April 2003 |
I am in the process of contacting UNCG Library about a project
that relates to the Department's efforts to become a Center for Contemporary
Poetry. Colombian poet and Professor Emeritus Dr. Ramiro Lagos has agreed
to donate his extensive poetry collection to the Jackson Library. I would
like for Dr. Lagos' donation to serve as the foundation for a Special Collection
on Hispanic Contemporary Poetry. I am also requesting donations from the
poets that attended our recent International Poetry Symposium. It is my
hope that UNCG may have a very unusual collection on the production of contemporary
Hispanic poets.

the conference. I have received many letters from the participants
complementing the organization, the intellectual quality and the
warm reception they received at UNCG. The events were opened to
UNCG students and were well publicize among the larger community.
