BIO

A native of the Southern Appalachians, David completed a Bachelor of Science in Spanish and a Master of Arts in higher education administration at Appalachian State University. His master's degree includes a graduate concentration in Spanish language and literature.

In 1999, he graduated from the Department of Adult and Community College Education at North Carolina State University with a Doctor of Education in higher education administration. His dissertation research dealt with conflict communication behaviors and organizational climate in a rural community college.

More recently David has studied cultural political economy and critical discourse analysis at the Institute for Advanced Studies at Lancaster University, U.K. He also is a student of communication/cultural studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Over the past fifteen years, David has taught within a variety of contexts including adult continuing education in Mexico, K-12, community college, and graduate education. He worked within administrative and instructional capacities in North Carolina community colleges for seven years before accepting an appointment as assistant professor at UNCG in 2002. He was reappointed as assistant professor in 2005.

He lives in the Piedmont Triad with his wife and their son.
