Eleanor F. McCrickard is a Professor of Music and Chair of the Composition, History, Theory Division in the School of Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro . She received her undergraduate degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Bachelor of Music in Organ, from Birmingham-Southern College, her Master of Music in Organ from the University of Michigan, and her Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A musicologist, she teaches music history courses for both undergraduate and graduate students. Her area of research is seventeenth-century Italian instrumental music, specifically music by Alessandro Stradella and other Roman composers. Her edition of Stradella's instrumental music was published in Concentus Musicus as volume 5. Her articles appear in Chigiana, Early Music, International Journal of Musicology, and Analecta musicologica. In the past Eleanor has been president of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the College Music Society and the Southeastern Chapter of the American Musicological Society. On campus she has been Secretary of the Faculty Senate and is currently the Corresponding Secretary of Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. |
