Fall 2007 -- GEO 311 Assignment One -- Due 8/27/07

(1) The Piedmont Triad Airport (KGSO) is a First Order weather station for the National Weather (Wx) Service (NWS).  The NWS is a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Completely specify the location (latitude, longitude, and elevation) of KGSO and one other NWS surface station in NC.

(2) Record the maximum, minimum, and mean temperatures for each of the two cities for today, Friday, 8/24, through Sunday, 8/26; and then post this information on the Discussion Board in BB by 0800, Monday, 8/27/07.

(3) Then, using the 30-year normals for max, min, and mean daily temperatures, discuss (on the BB Discussion Board) how Friday’s, Saturday’s and Sunday’s max, min, and mean differ from the 30-year normals for these days, and explain/discuss what might account for the difference.
