On page 150 of your text of Tacitus’ Annals, Tacitus writes:
It seems to me a historian’s foremost duty to ensure that merit is recorded,
and to confront evil deeds and words with the fears of posterity’s denunciations.
Based on our reading and discussions, write a 2-3 page essay (typed and double-spaced) in which you describe how well you think that Tacitus lives up to his description of the ideal historian.
Here are a few important things to keep in mind:
1) You need to back up the points you are making with specific examples from Tacitus’ Annals. Don’t rely on generalities—BE SPECIFIC!
2) Although you will be rewriting this paper after I have read over this version, I expect you to do a good job on this draft. Your papers must be well written and free of spelling and grammatical errors.
3) Put the following on your paper and sign it: “I have abided by the Academic Honor Policy on this paper.”
Your papers are due in my office
