E-Portfolio Overview
- A feature of the Blackboard Content System.
- A basic, intuitive tool but lacks the features of a comprehensive tool, e.g. an assessment interface.
- In HHP, we have used it for Dance, Exercise and Sport Science, and Public Health Education students.
- Great tool for students to use to demonstrate and reflect upon their learning.
- Creating an e-portfolio engages students in active learning.

FYIs
- It is not possible to edit an e-portfolio shared with you by someone else. Thus, you cannot create a formatted e-portfolio for a class to fill out, for example.
- The Content System does not have the 'Unpackage File' capability. Thus, if you wish to create links or embed multimedia within an HTML page whose link is an E-portfolio menu, it is necessary upload all relevant files, paste the code between the body tags of the main web page into an E-portfolio item and then recreate the links to the linked or embedded files.
- It is possible to create an e-portfolio menu link to a folder of documents in the Content System.
- If you download an e-portfolio, note that any banners or images included in custom templates that a Blackboard administrator adds will not display if the e-portfolio is unzipped using the Windows XP application. They will display if the e-portfolio is unzipped using WinZip.

- For Exercise and Sports Science undergraduate majors.
- Purpose for the E-Portfolio: "This is an activity designed to better prepare you for internship interviews and career interviews. Portfolios are a way for you to visually market yourself to future employers and/or graduate schools--they are the next step beyond a resume and cover letter. Portfolios reflect your education, accomplishments, skills, and professionalism. Your portfolio will include (at a minimum) a resume; cover letter; and statement of your philosophy of the fitness field. You may also include a transcript, documentation of scholarships or other academic or non-academic awards or honors, examples of your work, and anything else that would help employers remember you."

Public Health Education
- HEA 428 - Health Education Internship - Regina Pulliam
- For Public Health Education undergraduate majors.
- Purpose for the E-Portfolio: "
All students in the community health education undergraduate program are required to complete a portfolio that highlights their competency development over the course of their studies. By the end of their senior internship course, HEA 428, all students will identify products that reflect their mastery of the seven responsibility areas for entry-level health educators as laid out by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing."

Dance
- DCE 117 - Movement as a Medium - Robin Gee
- For first semester freshmen planning a dance major.
- Course Goal : "This course is designed to prepare entering first year students to meet the demands and challenges of the university experience and to help acclimate them to the departmental community."
- Students are exposed to the varying styles of several faculty dancers who appear as guests in the class.
- E-Portfolio was an opportunity to gather their reflective assignments, learn some useful technology skills, and to express themselves. They created either a personal webpage or a webpage for a fictitious dance company.
- During three 50-minute computer lab classes, we taught them
