Exams

There will be 3 exams, each one will be cumulative. Students are responsible for purchasing scantron forms (if needed) on their own. If students have conflicts with the exam schedule, students MUST arrange an alternate time for the exam to be written PRIOR to the exam. Missing an exam WITHOUT prior permission will result in a zero unless proper documentation is presented.

Labs & Learning Projects

Students will be required to complete selected labs at the end of each chapter. Other learning assignments will be assigned as the course progresses. Labs and other writing assignments must be handed in DURING the class unless prior arrangements are made.

Fitness Log - Due Tuesday April 24th, 2001

Each student will develop a personal exercise program and exercise at least 3 times per week throughout the semester.

What should you include in your fitness log:

Please keep your fitness log up to date! There will be one random check of your fitness log during the semester, which will contribute half of the points for the final grade on your fitness log.

Behavior Modification Project/Log - Due Thursday April 19th, 2001

Each student will identify a personal behavior at the beginning of the semester and develop a strategy to change the behavior. The student will document the behavior, the strategy and implementation of the change, as well as noting any setbacks, barriers and feelings toward the behavior and the modification process. Use the information in Chapter 1 of your text to assist you.

Student Presentations

Each student will choose an aspect of wellness or fitness and find one article about the chosen topic. The student will review the article and present a summary to the class. Classmates will then discuss and critique the article as it pertains to information previously learned in class. Presentations should be 5-10 minutes long. The article must be pertinent to topics discussed in class and should be turned in on the day of your presentation.

Participation and Attendance

Since this class requires 'active learning', students are expected to attend class and participate. Students will be allowed to miss two classes during the course, either excused or unexcused. You are responsible for obtaining missed material on your own. You will lose 2.5% of your participation grade for each class you miss beyond your '2 free absences'.
