Brief Description:
The field of HCI is the study of the
design, evaluation, and implementation of computer systems that interact
with people. This is an experimental version of an introductory course
in HCI. The format will be seminar-style with discussion of assigned readings.

Grading:
Class participation: 50%
Project: 50%
Class participation includes regular attendance, participation
in discussion of the reading assignments, and regular reports on your project's
status. The project consists of one of the following (subject to
my approval):
term paper on a topic in HCI
usability analysis of a human-computer interface
programming project with a substantial user interface (see me for ideas)
work under my direction on my current HCI research project (see me for
details)
something else (subject to my approval)
