Miscellaneous Tasks
· Unit 1: prototype demo
(giving presentation, not credit for implementing the code) and writing summary
of feedback from client on demo (included in Requirements Doc)
· Unit 2: informal design review presentation (making
PPT slides and giving presentation)
A 20+ minute Power Point presentation.
Estimate that you will talk 2-4 minutes per slide. Therefore, depending on how
fast you talk, this talk can contain 5-10 slides (not counting the
introduction). Here is the recommended format, but feel free to add to it or
modify it if necessary:
- Introduction slide: Titled
"Informal Design Review", name of product, group members,
presenter name
- Architecture slide: the
system architecture diagram showing the 3 layers, associations
between layers (as lines), and the
names of the classes in each layer. Discussion: Describe the general
service provided by each
layer and the purpose of any associations between layers.
- 3 Subsystem slides: For each
subsystem, make a slide with a list of each of its classes and for each
class, a list of its public attributes or methods that will be used by
higher layers -Discussion: explain the services (attributes/methods) provided
by the public interfaces that will be used by the higher layers -Do not
include public attributes/methods that are only for use by other classes
in the same layer! (And do not include any private attributes/methods!)
- Sequence diagram slides: For
2 of the most important scenarios, give sequence diagrams showing the sequence
of messages from object to object in all 3 layers. You can leave out
details if necessary to focus on communication from objects in one layer to
objects in another layer. If it is too hard to draw this using Word
or Powerpoint, you may draw this neatly on
paper.-Discussion: explain the scenario from the user's point of view and
then walk the audience through the sequence diagram. These slides will
probably take the longest time to discuss.
· Unit 3: Part I of final demo (See details on Instructions for Final
Deliverables and Demo web page)
· Unit 4: Part II of final demo (See details on Instructions for
Final Deliverables and Demo web page)
· Unit 5: For details, see Instructions
for Final Deliverables and Demo web page; this unit has two parts:
- Creating Group Demo on-line folder (see detailed
instructions elsewhere); and
- running Part III of final
demo (see detailed instructions elsewhere).
· Unit 6: final User Manual. See details on Instructions for Final
Deliverables and Demo web page)
