The Revised Self-Consciousness Scale

Scheier and Carver (1985) developed a revised version of the original self-consciousness scale (Fenigstein, Scheier, & Buss, 1975). One item was dropped, and many items were rewritten for a lower reading level. Overall, the revised scale's factor loadings and internal consistencies are higher. Like the original scale, it has three factors: private self-consciousness, public self-consciousness, and social anxiety. Oddly, few studies have used the revised scale.
