Susan Gerritsen

Hi! I'm the Library Technical Assistant I in the Documents/Microforms Division of Jackson Library. I am the evening supervisor of the department, and am in charge of maintaining the library's microform collection. This involves shifting the collection to provide room for growth, keeping the microforms in sequence, replacing lost or damaged media, and maintaining the machines that are used to read and copy from the microforms. I am also available to provide assistance in locating microforms, and instructions for using the various machines.

My other duties include the following:

I graduated from UNCG in 1995, with degrees in Psychology and Anthropology, and a minor in Biology. I also have a heavy background in the hard sciences and in laboratory work, due to the errant belief that I was born to practice medicine! I plan to obtain a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science within a few years, and hope to continue to work in academic libraries.

My extra-curricular dabblings (some more "extra" than others) include zymurgy, vegetarian cooking, sewing, crochet, nutrition, meditation and guided imagery, old-time fiddlin', and the abstract knowledge of auto-repair (not to be confused with the actual repair of automobiles). Please feel free to ask me questions about any of these subjects; I love to be able to pass information on. I am also something of an expert when it comes to my wonderful husband, Penn Farr, and my two cats, Booda and Kitty Lee.

I'm happy to be working at Jackson Library! It's where I've wanted to be ever since I worked for the great folks in Circulation, as a student assistant in 1993. Please contact me with questions or suggestions. You can reach me at sdgerrit@uncg.edu or by calling (336) 334-5251.
