Nellie

A few personality items that we've noticed include that she is slightly hesitant around stairs but will go up and down them when prompted or when she needs to go outside. She is slightly skiddish on walks when we are near busy streets. Nellie is reserved around new people and crowds, but warms up quickly. She also does very well with children. She seems to know a few basic commands (sit & down) but doesn't usually respond on the first try. Finally, Nellie is a great low energy dog with minimal need for hours of play, runs or walks. She is perfectly happy quietly napping until it's time to play or get petted.  Nellie seems happiest and most carefree when she is outside. She is much more willing to play, run and generally pursue thrown objects outdoors. As soon as she comes inside she goes back into restrained and quiet mode. Outdoors, she acts half her age."

Nellie #120101 is a 9 year old female Golden who is sweet and calm.  At 98 lbs, she is overweight by almost 20 lbs, but should drop the weight with some regular exercise.  She is very mobile and had a "Good" OFA rating on her hips in 2005.  She likes children and does well with cats.  Nellie has a laid back personality and deserves a good forever home in her senior years!  Her foster home sends this report (1-12):

"Nellie has been doing very well since she joined us one week ago. While she was initially very timid and reserved, she has begun to open up. She is quite content spending much of her day napping beside me or in the sunshine outside, and has displayed excellent manners around the house. She has been getting along well with our two 3-year-old Goldens, and they occasionally play and wrestle with each other. Nellie shares her toys without even the slightest hint of annoyance and is very well-behaved during meal time (both her's and our's). She is learning to heel very nicely on walks which is good because we are working to bring her weight down a bit. We've worked her up to 1 mile walks which she manages very well. She is completely housebroken.

Cinnamon #120103 is a 3 year old female Golden who is overweight at 79 lbs.  She is active and has a strong prey instinct, so should not be in a home with cats or small dogs.  Cinnamon does fine with children.
