581: SAS for Statistical Analysis
Prerequisites:
Permission of instructor. A previous course in statistics is strongly
recommended.

Catalog Description:
Creating, importing, and working with SAS data sets. Using SAS
procedures for
elementary statistical analysis,
graphical displays and report generation.
Upon
completion of the course, students should be able to:

Create
a SAS data set using various styles of input
·
Import
data from external sources into SAS
·
Combine
and modify SAS data sets
·
Select
and apply appropriate SAS procedures for statistical analysis and
graphical displays
·
Design
customized output from SAS procedures using the Output Delivery
System
Evaluation:
Students will be evaluated based on performance on several programming
projects.
Students are expected to do their own work and sign the Honor Code on
all
submitted work. Graduate students will be expected to complete
additional tasks
on programming projects. *Late assignments will
not be accepted without prior arrangement.

Required
Software: SAS Version 9.1, available on the UNCG network and also
available for
home use. To obtain SAS for home use, complete and print the form at
https://web.uncg.edu/research-access/secure/sas/sas.asp. When the form
is complete and printed, an order number is generated. Sign and date
the form and bring it to 46 McNutt Bldg. There's a second form that's
needs to be completed for the SAS Institute before the CDs can be
distributed. A deposit of $40 is required. The deposit can be in
the form of cash or check. There is a two week loan period to install
the program. When the CDs are returned, the deposit will be refunded.
Academic
Honor Code: All students are expected to abide by the UNCG Honor Code
at all
times. Each student will be required to sign the Honor Statement on all
major
work submitted for the course.
Attendance
Policy: Students are expected to attend all classes. Students who miss
more
than three classes may be dropped from the course.
