Required Materials List

Saxophone: In good working order with high F#. Recommended: Yamaha Custom 875/875EX; Yamaha YAS 62/82Z
Selmer S80-Series II, III; Reference 54,

Mouthpiece: Vandoren Optimum (AL3), Selmer S80 or S90 C*; Rousseau New Classic NC4 or NC5

Good supply of reeds: Vandoren #3 - 3 1/2 (5 boxes ON HAND)

Metronome and Tuner

Reed guards (at least five), and Vandoren Reed Resurfacer - Glass (optional, but highly recommended).

Small Jewelers Screw Driver (optional), Spring Hook (optional)

Recording device (Mini Disc, Cassette Recorder, Dat - Optional, but highly recommended). Free recording software for your computer is available from www.audacity.com

Ferling 48 Etudes

Recommended but optional: Rousseau Saxophone High Tones, Teal Art of the Saxophone, Ronkin-Frascotti The Orchestral Saxophone

Repertoire: STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE THEIR OWN (PUBLISHED) COPIES OF ALL PERFORMED MUSIC.

NOTE: I believe the student can make the best use of his or her time if stumbling blocks to their creative potential are eliminated. Having a good working saxophone with a high F# key for example, is essential, as well as reference materials such as a tuner and metronome (please see A Practice Guide).
