Dr. Walcott’s academic interests focus on regional economic development based on high technology industrial clusters such as the life science industry, and urban growth coalitions. Regional study areas include Indianapolis, San Diego, Atlanta, Bhutan, and metropolitan regions across China and India. She has published articles in The Professional Geographer, Urban Geography, Environment & Planning A, Growth & Change, Asian Geographer, Southeastern Geographer, Journal of Geography, Journal of Asia-Pacific Business, Indian Journal of Economics & Business and Journal of Cultural Geography on topics ranging from global high technology clusters to immigrant community economic impacts and a book on science parks in China, as well as numerous book chapters on the above topics.
