April 12-16 is National Student Employee Appreciation Week, and UNC Greensboro is celebrating with virtual events, video messages from campus leaders and alumni, and a variety of social media activity.

UNCG typically employs more than 2,000 students in work-study and non-work-study positions each year. During the 2021-21 academic year, the University employed 971 work-study students. The three largest hiring departments were the Department of Recreation and Wellness, Housing and Residence Life, and Student Support Services. Student employees have played a key role in continuing campus operations, both on campus and remote, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The impact our student employees made throughout this academic year is immeasurable,” said Dr. Adrienne Craig, associate vice chancellor for student affairs. “Many of the programs and initiatives provided to continue that sense of ‘normalcy’ for our campus community were sponsored and supported by various student employees. We owe them a great deal of thanks.”

Throughout the course of the week, individual departments across campus will host virtual celebratory events for their student employees. Additionally, student employees and supervisors are encouraged to share photos on social media.
