Bachelor's in Arts Administration

The Bachelor’s in Arts Administration at UNC Greensboro is for the student who seeks a career that bridges the gap between artistry and the logistics required to sustain cultural and creative organizations. The Arts Administration program equips students with the business and leadership skills needed to run theatres, museums and galleries, symphonies, and dance companies. The BA in Arts Administration is interdisciplinary, with students who want to work in visual art, dance, music, theater, or any of an infinite number of combinations of forms.

Bachelor’s in Arts Administration Program Distinctions

The BA in Arts Administration at UNCG is one of only a handful of undergraduate degree programs of its kind in the United States. The program offers an optional concentration in Art Museum Studies in collaboration with the Art History department. Arts Administration is in the School of Art with learning experiences at Greensboro Project Space and Weatherspoon Art Museum.

The Arts Administration Student Experience and Internships

Arts Administration courses combine real-world projects with professional skill-building in programming, community relations, marketing, communications, sales, fundraising, finance, and leadership.

Arts Administration students intern at a variety of arts organizations spanning the performing arts, visual arts, and arts councils. These internships bridge the transition from school to career and some placements include:

I grew up working in different theater communities and took classes at UNCSA’s summer theater intensive for a couple of years, but never considered that somebody must run those things. After Graduating with a Bachelor’s In Arts Administration

Arts Administration graduates can enter the profession directly after completing an undergraduate degree – and getting experience prior to graduation is possible and recommended through part-time jobs, independent projects, or internships.

• Development Officer, Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus
• Education and Community Engagement Coordinator, Nashville Symphony

Students may decide to continue their studies and enter graduate programs. Some of these include: Goucher College (Arts Administration), the Berklee School of Music (Music Business), University of South Carolina (Art History), UNCG Bryan School of Business and Economics (MBA), and University of North Carolina at Charlotte (Educational Leadership for Higher Education).
