Biography
Tara joins UNC Greensboro from Pennsylvania, where she served as the Costume Shop Manager and adjunct professor for the Swarthmore College Department of Theater. As a freelance costume designer, Webb’s designs have been showcased at prestigious institutions including Drexel University, Juniata College, MIT, Swarthmore College, and the University of Pennsylvania among other performing arts companies in New York and Philadelphia. Past work includes designs for notable organizations such as the Martha Graham Cracker Cabaret, the National Constitution Center, New Paradise Laboratories, Nichole Canuso Dance Company, Suli Holum/The Work, and Trey Lyford/Gimmick. Her recent work highlights include collaborations with Caitlyn Schrader and the Liminality Project. Beyond theatrical and dance costumes, she has designed promotional wearables for corporate events and created custom soft goods and interior textiles for various restaurants and businesses.
Deeply committed to sustainability in the arts, Tara is actively engaged in researching sustainable practices in costumes. She works with natural dyes from local plants and is currently exploring surface design techniques using non-toxic materials and food waste. She is a coordinator for the CVPA Pollinator Garden and nurtures plants in local community garden plots. She serves on the board for the Piedmont Fibershed and is a member of the UNCG Sustainability Executive Council.
