UNC Greensboro (UNCG) Basketball legend Isaiah Miller ‘21 B.A. returned to Greensboro on February 8 as his team, the Salt Lake City Stars, took on the Greensboro Swarm.
Around 100 fans attended a Meet & Greet with Miller following the game.
“I’m very excited. It’s going to be good to see everybody again,” said Miller, before the game. “I can’t wait to feel that energy from Greensboro.”
Miller made a mark on the Spartans: helping the team win 100 games during his four-year career and finished second in SoCon history with 315 career steals and third in UNCG history with 1,967 points.
In his final season, Miller was named SoCon Player of the Year and SoCon Defensive Player of the Year and is the only men’s basketball player in SoCon history to be named both Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in consecutive seasons.
“A standout of my UNCG career was winning the Southern Conference championship in my senior year,” Miller says. “I was leading those guys and that really meant a lot.”
In 2021, Miller graduated from UNCG with a bachelor of arts degree in Communications Studies with a minor in Media Studies. That same year, he became the first Spartan to ever sign with an NBA team – the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“UNCG prepared me a lot for this opportunity,” Miller told UNCG in 2021. “UNCG taught me the value of hard work. I learned to be smart about how I play and go about my day. UNCG put me in a great place and mindset to come here, compete, and represent my school.”
He went on to play in the NBA G League, first for the Iowa Wolves and now for the Salt Lake City Stars and he says UNCG has helped him along the way.
“I can’t even be grateful enough for UNCG, not just as a basketball program but as a community,” says Miller.
