New Oversight Committee Now Leading Coordinated, Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is no longer a far-off concept—it’s here and transforming the way we live, learn, work, and connect. UNC Greensboro is taking meaningful steps to ensure a responsible and coordinated approach to its use across campus.

Across campus, faculty, and staff have already begun exploring all the ways AI can enhance creativity, streamline processes, and support student learning. Building on that momentum, the University has established a cross-divisional AI Oversight Committee to guide the thoughtful use of AI in alignment with UNCG’s academic and ethical values.

The committee, chaired by Casey Forrest, Associate Vice Chancellor for Enterprise Technology Infrastructure and Chief Technology Officer, includes representatives from every University division and will offer strategic guidance in areas such as academic integrity, teaching and learning, research, and administrative operations.

Central AI Hub Launch

As one of its first key deliverables, the committee has launched the Central AI Hub Website, a new resource for faculty, staff, and students interested in learning more about AI at UNCG. The site provides:

  • Campus-wide AI Guidelines
  • A list of ITS-Approved AI Tools
  • Supportive Resources
  • Information on events, training, and news

The AI Hub serves as a central place for accessing resources and staying informed as the university’s use of AI evolves.

Broad Campus Involvement

To encourage input from across the University, the Oversight Committee is supported by a growing network of AI Working Groups. These groups will bring together students, faculty, and staff to offer feedback, share use cases, and help shape the policies and practices as new opportunities and challenges emerge.

Help Shape UNCG’s AI Future

UNCG encourages members of the campus community to engage with this initiative. Whether you’re using AI in your work, exploring its possibilities, or simply have questions, your voice matters.

Visit the Central AI Hub Website to learn more, explore tools and resources, or share your ideas. To get involved or offer input directly, reach out to your AI Oversight Committee representative, or contact Casey Forrest at cjforrest@uncg.edu.
