Bio

Dr. Yuenjung Joo (Jay) is an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education position in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, and a Director of Child Care Education Program. Her Scholarly agenda is to bridge the gap between research-based knowledge and educational practices to support early childhood professionals to improve their interaction quality, enhance children’s development and learning opportunities, and ameliorate inequity in early childhood education. Specifically, her research interests focus on (1) improving early childhood classroom quality, especially teacher-child interaction in child-led activity settings, to enhance children’s learning experiences, (2) early childhood teacher beliefs about children’s learning, and (3) child social-emotional learning intervention.
