Artists are imbued with the creative drive needed to launch successful careers, an essential element they come to UNC Greensboro’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) to develop and augment. This winter, Innovate UNCG launched a new Impact through Innovation (ITI) Hub in CVPA to further foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within artistic disciplines.

Professor Gives Female Athletes a Leg Up with Patented Device 

Sandra Shultz, director of UNCG’s Center for Women’s Health and Wellness, will earn a patent from the U.S. government for a GMetric3D Knee Joint Laxity Testing Apparatus. The device is intended to help reduce the number of ACL injuries, particularly among female athletes.

UNCG Lands Unreal Academic Partnership with Epic Games 

In January, UNC Greensboro was chosen as one of just 36 U.S. universities for an Unreal Academic Partnership by Cary-based Epic Games, makers of Unreal Engine 3D computer graphics tool and Fortnite, one of the world’s most popular video games.

Dr. Jesse Ford, assistant professor in the Department of Teacher Education and Higher Education at UNC Greensboro, focuses on increasing academic success for Black men from pre-K through Ph.D. Ford launched the Center for Black Men Success which serves as a research and programmatic initiative.
