The Bachelor of Arts in Drama at UNC Greensboro provides students with a flexible, interdisciplinary theatre degree. The program allows students to pair theatre with another major or minor and gain practical, hands-on experience without the strict specialization of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. The BA in Drama prepares students for a wide range of careers both on and off stage, as well as in administrative, educational, and corporate sectors.

Bachelor of Arts in Drama Program Distinctions

The BA in Drama at UNCG’s School of Theatre offers the “best of both worlds” by pairing conservatory-style training with the vast resources of a major public research university. It provides personalized mentorship, competitive performance programs, and a direct pipeline to the entertainment industry.

Unlike the highly restrictive course loads of BFA programs, the BA allows students to tailor their education toward various career paths, including education, arts administration, dramaturgy, and stage management.

The BA Drama Student Experience

The BA degree allows for students to pursue theatrical studies with a range of depth. BA students are interdisciplinary artists studying several areas of theatre and at least one other discipline which informs and contextualizes their theatre practice.

BA students train and work in the exact same state-of-the-art facilities used by highly competitive BFA and MFA tracks. The School produces work in three distinct, professional-grade venues: UNCG Auditorium, Taylor Theatre, and the Pam and David Sprinkle Theatre.

As a BA Drama student, you can minor in a range of areas, including:

How to Apply to the BA in Drama Program

Students interested in the Bachelor of Arts in Drama should complete UNCG’s undergraduate admission process and the School of Theatre application/audition process. Students academically admitted into the BA in Drama by the UNCG Undergraduate Admission Office are automatically admitted into the BA in Drama by the School of Theatre. No additional secondary admission requirements must be met at this time for this program.
