The Ph.D. in Kinesiology-Human Movement Science Program at UNC Greensboro prepares individuals as academic researchers and faculty members in areas including: Athletic training, sports medicine, biomechanics, and/or motor behavior. This track offers opportunities for teaching, mentoring, and research experiences through funded research, teaching, and clinical assistantships.

PhD in Kinesiology-Human Movement Science Program Distinctions

The Ph.D. in Kinesiology-Human Movement Science Program at UNCG is one of four concentrations in the doctoral Kinesiology program. The Human Movement Science doctoral program focuses on interdisciplinary education and hands-on clinical experience. This, combined with UNCG’s diverse, dynamic programs, ensure our students are well-prepared for post-graduate life.

The Kinesiology Ph.D. program at UNCG is nationally recognized for its excellence:

The Ph.D. in Kinesiology-Human Movement Science Student Experience

The 60 credit hour program offers opportunities for students interested in a broad range of career specializations, including:

  • Physical education
  • Athletic training
  • Community youth sport development
  • Exercise instruction
  • Exercise psychology
  • Exercise physiology

Additionally, students will create an individual plan of study to best suit their goals. Students will be eligible for teaching assistantships and research and clinical assistantships. Students may work in a lab that best suits their research questions, including:
