Jeannette Wade earned a PhD in sociology, with concentrations in health and gender, from the University of Akron, in Ohio. She currently works as an Associate Professor and Program Director of Human Health Sciences at UNC Greensboro. Her teaching and research focus on the social determinants of health and wellbeing, representation in research and health care, and gender role development.
Dr. Wade’s work has been published in scientific journals like the Journal of Sex Research, Sociology of Race and Ethnicity, Qualitative Health Research, as well as the Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities. She has also been featured in non-academic outlets including Time Magazine and Therapy for Black Girls.
Dr. Wade’s research has earned national recognition, placing third in the NSF Taking Action: COVID-19 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Challenge.
