Biography
Dr. Shimi Zhou is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, specializing in predictive analytics, business analytics, and information systems. Her research focuses on evaluating gender bias in academia, particularly through social network analysis to assess research performance and collaboration patterns among male and female scholars. She has also explored the role of gender in co-authorship networks within the Information Systems field. Dr. Zhou is passionate about leveraging machine learning and AI for societal benefit, with a particular interest in using data-driven approaches to understand disparities and biases in academic environments. She has published in esteemed journals such as the European Journal of Information Systems and has presented research at prestigious conferences, including AMCIS, SAIS, and NEAIS. Dr. Zhou actively contributes to academic research while teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in analytics using Python.
