David Kirkland

BIO

David Kirkland serves as the director of ITS: Learning Technology at UNCG, a unit dedicated to supporting faculty, staff, and students in utilizing ITS-approved software and learning spaces on campus. With nearly two decades of experience in higher education, David is an enthusiastic learner himself, holding a Ph.D. in Technology Management.

Prior to coming to UNCG, David began his journey in the United States Armed Forces, where he gained valuable experience in telecommunications and networking. After his honorable discharge, David accepted an internship within a university IT department. It was there that he discovered his passion for working with faculty to improve student learning. He has worked in almost every role he now leads, from being an instructional designer, instructional technology consultant, and software trainer, to implementing audio-visual solutions in academic environments.

At UNCG, David leads an exceptional team of support staff. His passion for improving the learning experience extends to support UNCG initiatives and the broader campus community.
