Biography
Dr. Emily Enloe graduated from the University of South Carolina-Columbia with her BA in Dance Education in May 2010. During her time as an undergraduate she was awarded a Magellan Scholar award for research in dance and videoconferencing as well as the Richard Durlach Excellence in Dance Education scholarship. After graduating she has been the dance educator at Southeast Middle and C.A. Johnson High Schools in Columbia, SC and is currently the dance educator at Oakbrook Middle School in Ladson, SC. In addition, Dr. Enloe was the Graduate Mentor for the Dancers Connect program housed through the USC Dance Education program from 2010-2014. The Dancers Connect program was an undergraduate practicum experience for dance education undergraduates that provided free dance classes to middle and high school students in the Columbia community. Her work with this program earned Dr. Enloe the 2012 NDEO Elsa Posey Graduate Student Scholarship. She earned her MEd in August 2013 from USC-Columbia in Early Childhood Education and continues to present at workshops and both state and national conferences in addition to teaching. Dr. Enloe is also the Past President for both SCAHPERD and SCDA and currently serves as a lecturer in dance in the master’s program for dance education at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Dr. Enloe graduated with her EdD in Leadership from Charleston Southern University in May 2022.

Scholarly Creative/Research Activity
In addition to her dissertation research in 2022, Emily Enloe has been an active practitioner in dance education, writing articles and books for the subject as well as presenting at conferences both locally and nationally for dance & movement educators. Her research interests include whole child development particularly of adolescents, pedagogy and curriculum, somatics-based dance approaches, and culturally responsive pedagogy. Most recently she completed a book with Human Kinetics on core teaching practices for dance education, available in the late fall of 2025. She is an active member in multiple professional organizations and has held several leadership positions within several of those organizations, serving dance educators both in her state of South Carolina as well as nationally.
