Get to Know Us

I am originally from Sudan, Africa but I have lived most of my life in Greensboro, North Carolina.  I chose to join AmeriCorps because I wanted to help the immigrant communities adjust and integrate into the American system.  Being a daughter of immigrants, I know from first-hand how challenging navigating that new lifestyle, so I want to do all I can to help. I am hoping after this year with AmeriCorps that it would open doors for me in this field, helping immigrants and refugees.  I am passionate about helping others in any capacity I can and also self-improvement. I like to spend my free time reading a book, taking walks with my daughter, or watching a good show or funny movie. A fun fact about me is that I am bilingual, I speak Arabic and English fluently.
