Bio and Education

I’m originally from Brazil, and my background includes sports physiology, immunology, nutrition, gut microbiome, and cancer research. I hold a Bachelor’s in Sports Physiology and a master’s in interdisciplinary health science from the Federal University of São Paulo, where my research focused on exercise physiology and addiction in endurance athletes. I have a PhD in Health Science at the University of São Paulo, with an emphasis on gut microbiome, probiotic supplementation, and exercise immunology, and I completed my postdoctoral training in immunology-oncology at the University of Arizona, focused on hematologic malignancies.

My clinical experience includes working as part of a care team of physiotherapists, nutritionists, and clinicians at an orthopedic institute, as well as direct work with pediatric oncology patients and training health professionals.

My research interests center on the intersection among exercise, the gut microbiome, and immune function, with a growing interest in how gut microbiome-targeted interventions could benefit cancer patients.
