Biography

Jon Goodman is Adjunct Lecturer of Instrument Repair at the University of North Carolina School of Visual and Performing Arts. Jon comes to UNCG from his woodwind repair business, Goodman Customs Woodwinds as a part of Moore Music Company, where he has experience working with students through professional musicians. Jon has given clinics at University or Virginia at Charlottesville, Appalachian State University, Duke University, University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the University of Virginia, among others.

Pivotal to his work as Woodwind Repair Specialist, Jon is also an active performer. He currently serving as second clarinet for Carolina Philharmonic, section clarinet of the Piedmont Wind Symphony, as well as performing his second year this summer as a part of MUSICA Malicorne and MUSICA Le Mans in France. Described by Arts Atlanta as having a “musical chemistry that is on target”, Jon is also no stranger to the New Music realm. He has stayed active as a new music chamber
player playing for various groups across the United States, including Atlanta-based GremlinsDuo and was recently seen on Eric Mandat’s newest release of Lines and Shadows. Jon also actively gigs and doubles on saxophone in the Triad Area, teaches clarinet and saxophone lessons at Moore Music Company and is Adjunct Lecturer of Clarinet at Guilford College.

Originally from Syracuse, NY, Jonathan resides in Greensboro, NC, where he is an stays active trail running, golfing, and enjoying good food and drinks with friends and his wife Abby. His primary teachers include Norbert Buskey, Raphael Sanders, and Eric Mandat. He received his Bachelors of Music from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and his Masters of Music from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
