Judy was born in Mexico and raised by her grandparents until the age of three, when her parents decided to bring her to the United States. In 1991, they arrived in Chamblee, Georgia with friends and a year later moved to Greensboro and have been here ever since. Judy is the oldest grandchild and at that time the first person on both sides of her family to attend school in the United States. As soon as she acquired the English language she quickly became the voice of her family at a very young age.  Her journey to CNNC was through AmeriCorps. In 2014 she joined as a part-time member at Glenwood Public Library in the position of ESOL Literacy Instructor. Though she enjoyed this experience and met wonderful people, she decided she wanted to gain experience in another area and continue helping others. She then decided to reapply to AmeriCorps with the Interpreter ACCESS Project for the 2015-2016 service year. She was offered the position as Community Liaison and Spanish Interpreter. After the completion of her service she was offered a part-time temp position as an Administrative Support Associate for the Interpreter ACCESS Project. On April 28, 2017, she became a full time employee with the CNNC. She continues in her role as Administrative Support Associate. Judy has two children Andrea and Carlos and is very blessed to be surrounded by most of her family. She enjoys spending time with them. When not working Judy makes an effort to help friends and family with anything they need and enjoys volunteering at her children’s school.
