About Judy

Judy A. Fowler, Ph.D. is the Assistant Director at the University Teaching and Learning Commons (UTLC). A dedicated career educator, Judy is passionate about fostering student growth, development, belonging, and motivation. As a National Board Certified Teacher, she leveraged her 18 years of experience in K-12 schools to support the Physical Education and Health Teacher Education (PEHTE) program at UNCG, serving as the Program Coordinator since 2016. Judy has a proven track record in teacher education, mentoring, and professional development. Her extensive experience in creating safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environments has facilitated her transition to a faculty development role, where she now supports and empowers instructors.
Judy is deeply committed to promoting emotional safety, a sense of belonging, and PERMA, the theory of well-being in educational settings. She believes in the importance of creating emotionally safe spaces for students to flourish and advocates for the holistic development of both teachers and students. Passionate about professional development and lifelong learning, Judy enjoys collaborating with educators to enhance teaching practices and student engagement that support academic, social, and emotional well-being.
