Leslie Sandoval originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina was born and raised by Mexican/Guatemalan immigrant parents. She has a passion for working with immigrant and refugee families due to her upbringing and her experience working with the Latinx population. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a double minor in Spanish and Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2022.

During her undergraduate years, Leslie volunteered at the Glen Haven community center and with Reading Connections as an afterschool tutor to Latinx children and families. Leslie also was an undergraduate research assistant with the CAMINOS lab and helped with identifying individual, familial, and cultural processes that place minoritized youth at risk for maladaptive psychological and educational outcomes, with a focus on immigrant and Latinx populations. Before joining CNNC Leslie completed an internship at the Doris Henderson Newcomers School as a mental health interpreter and also served at the UNCG Psychology clinic as an interpreter. Through both her personal and professional journeys Leslie strives to empathize and deeply connect to others on an emotional level and continues advocating for underprivileged populations.

Outside of CNNC, Leslie enjoys going to the gym, listening to audiobooks, cooking, spending time with friends and family, creating playlists and drawing.
