Biography
Michael Ananian was born and raised in Haverhill, Massachusetts. He got his BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 1987 and his MFA from Yale School of Art in 1990. He started at UNCG in 1994. He paints in oils and casein and draws in charcoal and ink. At the start of 2022, he expanded his practice to include digital drawing and painting. Heβs an avid Old Time music enthusiast and player, playing clawhammer and two finger style banjo, and often includes these musical themes and subjects in his artwork.
