Michael Watson
Originally from Greensboro, and proud Spartan, Michael Watson ’11 returned to campus in November 2021 to work with the Weatherspoon Art Musuem. As of August 2025, Michael is the Senior Director of Development for the College of Arts & Sciences.
As a first-generation college graduate and non-traditional student, he knows firsthand the transformative impact a college education can have, and he brings a strong passion for public higher education to his work.
Before returning to UNC Greensboro, Michael worked at Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA, where he fundraised for a variety of departments and programs, including Andalusia, the Home of Flannery O’Connor; Georgia’s Old Governor’s Mansion; Leadership Programs; and the John E. Sallstrom Honors College. He holds a BA in History from UNC Greensboro and an MA in Public Administration from Georgia College.
He’d like to call himself an avid reader, though he admits he’s probably a few rungs below “avid” these days—but he does try. Michael also enjoys spending time with his family, including his seven nephews and four cats, and rediscovering Greensboro’s parks.
