Biography

Patricia Cates brings over thirty years or experience in accounting to the classroom. Currently a lecturer at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, she specializes in financial and managerial accounting, as well as corporate and graduate taxation. With a Master of Science in Accounting, CPA certification, and credentials from the IRS, Patricia has a strong background in both online and face-to-face instruction. Her career includes notable positions in higher education and leadership roles within global nonprofits such as National Board for Certified Counselors. Patricia’s accounting career began in tax as she worked in her family’s firm. She has been a consultant to small businesses and nonprofits. Her work reflects a commitment to innovation, ethical practices, and community service, including volunteer work with the Internal Revenue Service’s VITA efforts and local community-based nonprofits.
