Paula Damasceno’s creative research centers on multimedia and multisensorial installation, photo objects, and performances generated by critical engagement with cultures, and materialities. Often investigating ideas of sacredness and misrecognition as a medium in and between private and public spaces, Damasceno focuses on concepts in decoloniality studies to inform her practice. She was a multimedia instructor, instruction coordinator, and experimental film festival director at the UNC Greensboro Jackson Library 2014-2023, and a Photography Professor 2023-2024 at UNCG. As a Professor, Damasceno’s pedagogy focuses on question formulation practice as a generative path for creative research. Her works in video documentary, photography, multimedia installation, and instruction have been shown, offered, and published in Brazil, Mexico, Japan, and the U.S.
