Research
My research interests focus on young children’s literacy development and more specifically on ways to empower newly arrived refugee families build strategies that foster their children’s success in school. I also focus on ways to support successful parent-teacher partnerships within multilingual classroom environments and communities and ways in which children’s literacy development takes place in ethnic and cross-cultural contexts.
My work is based on Community Engaged Research which highlights community participation as central in all aspects of project activities. I welcome students who are interested in community collaborations and exploring community engaged research and mixed methods approaches.
